I came to this community hoping to see that no one commented. Then I found out that the members don't comment, they just join. Well, I don't know if you watchers are wanting to join...but even if you aren't, keep writing. And post! I'll read what you have!
Here's a story I was planning to enter into an essay contest. Although, I never did.
We all want to be different. To look at things another way. To like a band that no one else has heard of. And to be able to say that we’re not like the crowd. Although, people who strive for that goal, rarely reach it without looking like everyone else.
Take a walk through any high school. You’ll find your preps, Goths, skaters, and dorks. Everyone follows some sort of a crowd. Certain groups are all about being different and independent, but I wonder, what makes you independent if you are buying the same shirt thousands of other skaters own?
Anyone can say they want to be different, but when their mom brings home a lime green shirt that deep down they like, but would never wear to school, that independent side has vanished and you begin to be like any other teenager. Insecure, and looking for a place to stand out in a crowd when you’re wearing your lime green t-shirt, just like everyone else is…on the inside.
